Matthew is the Chief Legal Officer at Lango. He is a qualified attorney in both New York and South Africa, with over 20 years of experience in raising and deploying capital across developed and emerging markets.
Before joining Lango full-time in 2025, Matthew led the private markets legal team at Ninety One (formerly Investec Asset Management), where he specialized in private equity fund formation and deployment, and advised Lango from its inception.
Earlier in his career, Matthew worked at FMO, the Dutch Development Bank, where he advised on transactions in more than 60 emerging market jurisdictions. He also practiced in the Corporate Real Estate team at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP in New York and London.
Matthew holds a BA (Honours) and LLB from the University of Cape Town, and an LLM from Columbia Law School in New York, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar.
